3 Bad Hair Trends of 2012

The year of 2012 gave us a lot of great things. 2012 brought us The Dark Night Rises and Grumpy Cat, but it also brought us a lot hair trends that made us raise an eyebrow.

The Man Bun
Oh the man bun…it’s a fast growing trend according to the New York Times and there are even Youtube tutorials devoted to the art of perfecting the manly top knot. Guys everywhere are reaching for hair ties and tying their hair up in slicked back buns to keep their hair fuss free. Love it or hate it, this seems to be a growing trend among men who want to keep their long manes out of their face.

The Beard
Beards aren’t a new innovation in the world of men, but 2012 showed us that beards are back in full force. Beards played a big role in men’s fashion on the runways for designers like Vivenne Westwood, Paul Smith and Umit Benan. From the ultra long to the closely cropped, 2012 was the year of the beard.

The Ombre
A lot of stylists are wondering if 2013 will usher out the ombre hair trend that swept through the locks of women like wildfire in 2012. The high contrast look is achieved by maintaining an almost natural hair color at the roots and gradually lightening the ends. The look has been spotted on high profile celebs like Megan Fox and Drew Barrymore, Jessica Alba even tweeted about it.
